My dream is for all people to have access to safer products. – Gregg Renfrew, Beautycounter Founder & CEO

Being intentional means to be purposeful; to care. I put my efforts into living that way.

I have always been interested in areas of health and wellness. I have always been physically active not only because I enjoy it but because I wanted to stay healthy. I believe that I must take good care of the body God has given me. Using over 15 products a day on my body, skin and face- I never once stopped to consider whether my products were completely safe. As a biologist, I was trusting in our agencies and other scientist to protect me. Never truly questioned words and ingredients I might have not been familiar with. It wasn’t until after 4 miscarriages and then becoming pregnant with my first child that I started to learn just how toxic my personal care products were and how potentially harmful they could be to my baby while in utero. If I was told to restrict so many products while pregnant because my body absorbs them and could harm the baby, I imagine it could affect me regardless if I was pregnant or not. I learned just how toxic my personal care products were and how potentially harmful they could be to my baby and me! Around that time, people I love and care about were diagnosed with cancer and other disorders. I had to do something! My research brought me not only to watch what I eat but also what I put on my skin.

A year after my second baby was born, I developed an autoimmune disorder. I was distraught. As a scientist, I had to find ways to improve my overall health without counting only on medications. That research brought me to Beautycounter. A friend mentioned them to me and encouraged me to try them. After reading about them and trying the products; I was sold. It’s a win-win. I am so grateful to my friend Lisa.

The vision of a future, where my daughters, with the possibility of so many health problems that could be prevented, just empowered me to join, learn more and be an active voice. Many other companies have joined the movement and it excites me to see so many people caring about their health. Act NOW to draw a better picture of your future. Not only have I learned about the skin products, but I’ve expanded my knowledge on toxins found in other household products we use daily.

Partnering with Beautycounter allows us to become educators so that we could be a voice demanding change with regards to the legislation of toxic chemicals that are found in many personal care products on the market. The European Union has identified and banned over 1400 ingredients that have been linked to harm health, while the United States has only banned 30 to date. At Beautycounter we have taken our standard of safety to the strictest measure and we adhere to a “Never List” of over 1500 chemicals that we will never ever include in our products. Now there is even a line for men. Countermen is fantastic. The men in my life love their shaving cream.

Working with Beautycounter has been a learning and growth experience for me. Here are some FACTS that startled me when I learned them:

1. There has not been a major federal law passed governing the personal care industry since 1938.

2. That our children’s generation is the first to be sicker and die younger than their parents. (Even with more advances on science!)

3. There are 85,000+chemicals on the market with thousands being added each year – of which 80% of these chemicals have NEVER been tested for human safety.

4. Many of these chemicals have been linked to breast cancer, learning disabilities, infertility, autism, hormone disruption and other health issues are legally ALLOWED in the products we use every day.

Gladly my health has significantly improved. My efforts are paying off. I also trust that watching what I put in my body helps as well. I decided to join Beautycounter to take advantage of the discounts while I enjoyed the products. However, I feel now that I should share my experience and this product line, mostly with those I care about the most.

BTW – there is a 60 day free return policy. No questions asked.

Here are some of my faves-

 *Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion

Just in time for summer! Guard against sun’s damaging rays with this water-resistant sunscreen lotion. Formulated with non-nano zinc and California Poppy, this physical SPF 30 formulation provides an effective shield from UVA and UVB, while being gentle and pleasant feeling on the skin.  It’s reef-friendly and water-resistant for up to 40 minutes.

*No. 3 Balancing Facial Mask

Perfect mask for oily skin or to keep your skin clean. I use it at least twice a week to help absorb excess oil and draw out impurities. Great mask for minimizing the appearance of pores and stimulate exfoliation.

*Dew Skin Moisturizer Coverage

Love that it has SPF protection and it helps me looks polished as I run out the door. Keeps my skin hydrated and with a natural looking glow.

*Lip Gloss

Smooth and not sticky. Loving the “Peony” tone these days.

*Overnight Resurfacing Peel

One of my favorite products hand down! I used to be so sensitive to all peels but it is formulated without synthetic fragrances, polyethylene glycols (PEGs), and formaldehyde-based preservatives commonly found in peels that could irritate.

I use this stay on peel at least twice a week. My skin texture and appearance of pores have improved significantly.

*Flawless in Five

Ready to rock in 5 minutes! All that you need to walk out the door. If you are like me that most days don’t want to wear anything then this set is for you! And you get to choose your shades.

*Cleansing Balm

Last but not least….This balm does it all! I use it as a make up remover, apply it on dry skin areas, or as a hydrating mask…
